Since I started Cooking with Dacus, I was using a photo of me at the One Tortilla Grill at Dudy Noble field. Short story about the photo...it was taken by a Mississippi State photog during a baseball game at Dudy Noble Field early in the Spring of 2018. I knew I had my photo taken, but had not seen it. Fast-forward a few weeks and I in Guam for work. The time difference is hard to conceive. They are 15 hours ahead...so, the game starts at 2pm Mississippi time Saturday afternoon, which is 5am Sunday morning in Guam. So I get up to watch the game on ESPN and immediately my phone goes NUTS! Apparently they used the photo during the pregame intros and everyone thought it was live. Needless to say when I told everyone I was in Guam tomorrow, they really didn't know what to think.

So what does that have to do with a new logo? Well, that photo has been the Cooking with Dacus profile pic on Instagram and Facebook since I started both pages a year or so ago. When I was getting ready to launch the website I decided I needed something new and fresh that was unmistakable. So I turn to my incredibly talented "niece" Katy Kirkpatrick.

We talked via Google Meet about what I was looking for and she came back with some ideas. They were great, but nothing screamed YES! So we did another video call and after a few minutes she created a draft of the logo and it was IT! A couple of days later I got the final draft and it was PERFECT!

Katy created multiple versions of the primary logo on a brand sheet with fonts and colors. And it is exactly what I was looking for!
